Reading List For South Of France Holiday

Hi guys,

Hope you're all well and enjoying the rather very hot summer.

I forgot to mention in the previous post– https://bookstowonderfor.blogspot.com/2018/03/new-year-new-commitments.html, that I now also have an instagram page dedicated to my other love, art. The page is called @arthistorytalks– https://www.instagram.com/arthistorytalks/?hl=en. I talk about all things art, currently writing a series of art done by artists in non-western countries.

Aside from that, I'm planning a small holiday to the south of France. What better way to unwind from the busy and often chaotic life you get from living on the city than reading a book? I've ordered some books on amazon, here is whats on my current reading list:

Some light and heavy reads
1) Homer's 'The Iliad'
2) Katie Hickman's 'The House at Bishopsgate' (concluding book of the Aviary Gate Series trilogy)
3) Jackson Katz's 'The Macho Paradox: Why Some Men Hurt Women And How All Men Can Help' (I came across the book from the brilliant documentary on Netflix called Liberated)
4) 'The Motorcycle Diaries'
by Ernesto "Che" Guevara
5) Hanan Al-Shaykh's 'One Thousand and One Nights'

What are you all doing this summer and what books are you reading? Let me know :)

New Year, New Commitments

Hi all,

After a very long hiatus from blogging, I'm happy to say that I'm finally back. It's been a very interesting and busy few years since I've last blogged. What have I been doing you might ask so I will give you a brief rundown of what I've gotten up to.

  • Completed two degrees. A BA in Contemporary Media Practice which is a course with a concentration in film, photography and new media. I also recently completed a Masters degree (December 2017), in Arts and Lifestyle Journalism.
  • Had internships in Dazed magazine and British Vogue
  • Spent a over a year as a young curator at the William Morris Gallery in London
  • Took part in various roles in my university magazine's
  • Was a photographer assistant (still am)
  • Created projects to add to my portfolio (my website is coming out soon)
Aside from all that, I worked in part-time jobs to fit round my studies and projects to add some money to my bank account.

I wrote a New Years resolution for the first time ever for 2018. I usually make a mental note of things I wanted to achieve for the year but writing it down this time makes it easier to remember and also gives me a reminder of my goals. One of the goals I wanted to achieve for this year and onwards is to get into reading again. With everything that has been going on over the years, I didn't really have the space to read like I used to which was sad because I used to read so much. So January began and I decided to read again. I updated my kindle, downloaded and bought some new books. So watch this space, I will be blogging more frequently now of the books I'm reading and posting news etc of anything that is happening in the world of books.

Thank you all for being this patient with me.
